Ask these anywhere, including here. What matters is not only the answer but how readily it comes. Anybody working properly will be pleased you asked. Hesitation is the information.
A sixty minute massage that includes ten minutes of talking and five of changing is a forty five minute massage. Ask whether consultation and changing time sit inside or outside your booking. It is the most common quiet shortening in the industry.
The only correct answer is that it goes in the bin. Returning it to a shared pot puts whatever was on your skin back into wax kept warm for the next person, and wax is nowhere near hot enough to sterilize anything.
Files and buffers are porous and cannot be sterilized, so they should be single use and binned in front of you. Metal tools should be autoclaved, which is heat and pressure, not a wipe or a jar of blue liquid.
Ask for it in writing. Plenty of places take a bridal booking and assign whoever is free on the morning, which makes a trial close to pointless. The person who built the look should be the person who rebuilds it.
If a treatment is genuinely variable, that is fine, but you should be quoted your actual figure before it starts rather than after. Anything added at the desk that was not agreed at booking is a red flag, however small.
The single most useful question in beauty. Somebody who can answer it clearly understands what they are doing. Somebody who says a treatment does everything is selling rather than advising, and the honest answer occasionally costs them the booking.
For anything made to measure, two should be standard. Ask what a third costs and under what circumstances. A studio confident in its pattern cutting will not charge you for its own adjustments.
There is a legitimate point, and it is when cloth is cut to your measurements, because that cloth can never be used for anybody else. Ask for the scheduled cutting date so you know exactly when you can no longer change your mind.
The commonest wasted appointment is not a bad treatment. It is a good one booked in the wrong order. These are the collisions worth knowing, whichever studio you use.

Start here. Several pieces you already own are two seams away from being your favorites, and a well altered garment beats a badly fitted expensive one every time.
Choose it when the shape is right and the fit is wrong. Hems, waists, sleeves, taking in and letting out.
A pattern drafted to your measurements rather than a size adjusted toward you. Two fittings as standard, six to eight weeks, and a pattern kept on file afterward.
Choose it when nothing off the rail fits your proportions, or the occasion genuinely warrants it.
Design as well as construction. Longer, more expensive, and the right answer far less often than people expect.
Choose it when the thing you want does not exist, rather than when it exists and you have not found it yet.
