Blow Dry And Hair Styling By Erothots, Event Ready Hair

Wash, blow dry and finish for an event, a shoot, or a Friday that needs no reason. Set properly with a cool shot so it holds through a long evening instead of dropping by nine o'clock.

Ask For The Walkthrough

Say the word when you sit down and your stylist will talk you through it as they work. Which sections they take, which brush size they use for the bend you like, where the tension goes, and when the cool shot happens. It costs nothing, it does not add time, and most people get noticeably closer to it at home afterwards.

What You Get

What A Blow Dry Appointment Includes

Hair sectioned and prepared before a blow dry at Erothots

Rough Dried First, Then Sectioned

A blow dry is not simply drying hair. It is shaping hair while it dries, and the shape only holds if the sequence is right. Seven things happen here, all inside the quoted price.

  • 01A short consultation. What the finish is for, how long it needs to hold, and what your hair usually does by hour four. All three change how we build it.
  • 02Wash and scalp massage. Included in the price, never charged separately, with the shampoo chosen for the finish rather than whatever is nearest the basin.
  • 03Product matched to your density. Fine hair needs a light mousse at the root. Thick hair needs a cream through the lengths. The same product on both is why so many blow dries fall flat or feel greasy.
  • 04Rough dry to eighty percent. Sectioning soaking wet hair wastes the heat on evaporation rather than shaping. Almost every blow dry that drops in an hour was started too wet.
  • 05Sectioned work with a nozzle on. Air directed down the hair shaft so the cuticle lies flat. That is where the shine comes from, not from a product.
  • 06The cool shot. Every section set cold before it is released. This is the single step that decides whether the shape lasts three days or three hours.
  • 07Finish and hold. Dressed out by hand and set with the lightest hold that will do the job, because over spraying is what makes hair look stiff in photographs.
Anyone can dry hair. The shape comes from tension, direction and the cool shot.
The wash is never an extra. Some salons quote a styling price and add the shampoo at the desk. Here the wash, the product and the finish are all inside the figure you are told when you book.
Six Finishes

The Blow Dry And Styling Finishes We Offer

Six different results, all built from the same wash. Which one suits you depends far more on your density and how long it needs to hold than on what is fashionable.

Smooth and sleek blow dry finish
Finish 01

Smooth And Sleek

Flat, glossy and straight, with the cuticle sealed by directing air down the shaft rather than across it. The hardest finish to keep in humidity, so we build in more hold when the forecast is against us.

From $4545 MinutesAll Lengths
Soft waves and bounce blow dry finish
Finish 02

Soft Waves And Bounce

The finish most people actually want when they say blow dry. Movement through the lengths with a soft bend at the ends, built on a large round brush and set cool. Photographs better than sleek and holds longer.

From $5550 MinutesBest Photo Finish
Big volume blow out with lift at the root
Finish 03

Big Volume Blow Out

Lift built at the root by drying against the growth direction first, then settled back. Fine hair gains the most from this one. Rollers go in at the crown while it cools, which is what stops the volume collapsing on the drive home.

From $6060 MinutesBest For Fine Hair
Curly hair diffused for definition rather than straightened
Finish 04

Curly And Textured Definition

Diffused rather than blasted, on low speed and medium heat, with the curl cupped and left alone until it is dry. If you want your curl pattern defined instead of removed, this is the appointment, and it is not the same job as straightening.

From $5550 MinutesCurl Kept
Occasion styling and updo at the Erothots salon
Finish 05

Occasion Styling And Updos

Half up, pinned, twisted or fully up, built to survive a full day of photographs and a warm room. Structured from a prepped base rather than pinned into clean slippery hair, which is why it still looks intentional at midnight.

From $8560 To 75 MinutesEvents
Express blow dry for shorter hair
Finish 06

Express Blow Dry

For shorter hair or anyone who just needs it done properly and quickly. Same wash, same technique, less length to travel through. Popular before work and between cuts rather than for events.

How Your Appointment Works

Seven stages, in this order every time. The order is what makes it hold.

Sectioned blow dry in progress with a round brush at Erothots
  1. Stage 01

    The Brief

What it is for, how many hours it needs to survive, and what your hair usually does by the end of an evening. If you are going somewhere warm and crowded, we build it differently from the start.

  2. Stage 02

    Wash And Scalp Massage

Included. Shampoo chosen for the finish, and conditioner kept off the roots so the volume has somewhere to come from.

  3. Stage 03

    Product On Damp Hair

Applied where it is needed and matched to your density. Product on soaking hair dilutes and does nothing. Product on dry hair sits on the surface and weighs it down.

  4. Stage 04

    Rough Dry To Eighty Percent

Hands and heat, no brush yet. Sectioning wet hair wastes the whole appointment evaporating water instead of shaping, and it is the commonest reason a blow dry drops early.

  5. Stage 05

    Sectioned With A Nozzle

Clean sections, real tension on the brush, and air pointed down the hair shaft. The nozzle is not optional. Without it the air scatters and roughs the cuticle, which is what dulls a finish.

  6. Stage 06

The Cool Shot, Section By Section

Every section set cold on the brush before it is released. Hair takes its shape as it cools, not as it heats. Skipping this is why a blow dry can look perfect in the chair and flat within the hour.

  7. Stage 07

    Dressed Out And Set

Broken up by hand, shaped, and finished with the lightest hold that will do the job. Heavy spray reads as stiff in photographs, so we use less than you would expect.

Getting It Right

Choosing The Right Finish

Six things decide which finish will still look good in hour six. Only one of them is about the look itself.

01

How Long It Has To Hold

Two hours at a lunch and twelve at a wedding are different jobs. Tell us the honest number and the build changes, from product weight through to how much cool shot goes in.

02

Your Density

Fine hair holds volume but loses smoothness. Thick hair holds smoothness but resists volume. Asking for the wrong one for your density means fighting your hair all evening.

03

The Weather

Humidity is the enemy of a sleek finish and the friend of waves. On a heavy day we will suggest movement rather than glass straight, because straight will not survive the walk in.

04

Where You Are Going

A warm crowded room flattens hair faster than anything else. Dancing, hats and outdoor photographs all change what we build and how much structure goes in at the root.

05

Your Heat History

Hair that is straightened daily is often more fragile than it looks and takes shape differently. We drop the temperature and lean on technique rather than heat.

06

What You Can Sleep On

If you want three days from it, we build something that survives a pillow. A sleek finish will not. Soft waves will, with a loose plait overnight.

Why It Works

Benefits And Advantages Of Our Styling Service

What a properly built blow dry gives you beyond looking good on the day.

01

It Holds For Days, Not Hours

Rough dried first, set cool section by section. Most clients get three to five days out of it rather than one evening, which changes the cost per wear entirely.

02

Learn It While You Sit

Ask for the walkthrough and your stylist explains every section, brush size and angle as they work. Free, no extra time, and it genuinely transfers.

03

The Wash Is Included

Shampoo, product and finish all sit inside the quoted price. Nothing appears at the desk that was not agreed when you booked.

04

Less Heat Than You Use At Home

A professional blow dry with the right technique uses lower heat than daily straightening. Done once a week, it is often gentler than what you were doing anyway.

05

Curls Kept, Not Removed

Curly hair can be diffused for definition rather than blasted straight. Say which you want and that is what you get, without an argument about it.

06

Built For Your Actual Evening

A warm room, dancing, a hat or outdoor photographs all change the build. Telling us where you are going is more useful than showing us a picture.

Common Complaints

What Usually Goes Wrong With Blow Dries Elsewhere

Six reasons a blow dry falls flat before the evening starts. None of these are unique to any one salon.

Started Far Too Wet

Sectioning begins on soaking hair, so most of the heat and most of the appointment is spent evaporating water rather than shaping. The shape never really sets because it was never dry enough to hold.

Here InsteadRough dried to about eighty percent before a brush comes anywhere near it.

No Nozzle On The Dryer

Air scatters in every direction, roughs the cuticle and dulls the finish. It also blows the section you are not working on out of place, which costs more time than the nozzle saves.

Here InsteadNozzle on, air directed down the hair shaft so the cuticle lies flat and reflects light.

The Cool Shot Skipped

Hair takes its shape as it cools, not as it heats. Released hot off the brush, a section relaxes almost immediately, which is why the result looks perfect in the chair and flat in the car.

Here InsteadEvery section set cold on the brush before it is released. This is not optional here.

One Product For Everybody

The same volumising mousse or the same heavy cream applied regardless of density. Fine hair leaves weighed down, thick hair leaves unmanaged, and both blame their own hair for it.

Here InsteadProduct chosen by density and placed where it is needed, on damp rather than soaking or dry hair.

Curls Blasted Straight By Default

A client with curls asks for a blow dry and is straightened without being asked, because straight is the assumed finish. The curl pattern is lost for the sake of an evening.

Here InsteadWe ask first, and diffusing for definition is a normal booking rather than an unusual request.

Drowned In Hairspray

Heavy hold sprayed on to compensate for a shape that was never set properly. It reads stiff in photographs and it cannot be touched or brushed out for the rest of the evening.

Here InsteadThe lightest hold that will do the job, because the structure comes from the cool shot instead.
Honest Trade Offs

Things To Consider Before You Book

Better to know all of this before you arrive than after.

01

Humidity Will Beat A Sleek Finish

On a heavy day, glass straight hair will not survive the walk from the car. We will say so and suggest waves instead, which last far better in moisture.

02

It Is Styling, Not A Treatment

A blow dry does not change your hair, it arranges it. If frizz and drying time are the real problem, a smoothing treatment is the honest answer rather than a weekly blow dry.

03

Event Slots Book Out First

Saturday mornings and the run up to prom and wedding season fill weeks ahead. Occasion styling in particular needs booking well in advance.

04

Very Long Or Dense Hair Takes Longer

Past mid back, or with a lot of density, a blow dry runs beyond the standard slot. That extra time is quoted when you book, never added at the desk.

Before You Arrive

How To Prepare For Your Appointment

  • Do not wash it first. The wash is included and it needs to be ours, because the shampoo and conditioner are chosen for the finish you have asked for.
  • Come with product free hair if you can. Dry shampoo and heavy cream from yesterday both change how the hair takes shape, and they can flatten a volume finish before we start.
  • Tell us the honest hold time. Two hours or twelve. This one answer changes the product, the tension and how much cool shot goes into every section.
  • Say where you are going. A warm crowded room, dancing, a hat or outdoor photographs all change the build far more than a reference picture does.
  • Wear something you can take off over your head. Or bring it to change into afterwards. Pulling a jumper over a finished style undoes twenty minutes of work.
  • Bring your accessories. Clips, combs, a veil or a headpiece. We build the style around them rather than trying to force them in at the end.
  • Ask for the walkthrough when you sit down. Not at the end. It has to be explained while it is happening for it to be any use to you.
Styling for an event. Book the appointment for the same day where possible, or the day before at the latest. Day two hair actually holds a style better than freshly washed hair, so an evening event and a morning appointment work well together.
Making It Last

How To Get Five Days From A Blow Dry

Six habits that decide whether you get one evening or most of a week.

Care 01

Sleep In A Loose Plait Or Silk

A loose plait or a silk pillowcase stops friction breaking the shape overnight. Cotton is what turns day two waves into day two frizz.

Care 02

Keep Your Hands Out Of It

Touching transfers oil from your fingers to the roots. It is the fastest way to flatten a volume finish and most people do it without noticing.

Care 03

Dry Shampoo On Night One

Apply before the roots look oily rather than after. Used preventatively at the roots on the first night, it buys an extra day or two easily.

Care 04

Protect It In The Shower

A cap and cooler water, or clip it up and away. Steam alone will drop a sleek finish even if the hair never gets directly wet.

Care 05

Refresh With Cool Air, Not Heat

On day three, a quick pass of cool air at the roots lifts the shape back up. Reaching for straighteners instead adds heat damage for a smaller result.

Care 06

Let It Change

Day one sleek becomes day three texture. Rather than fighting that, take it up or half up. Most styles have a good second life if you stop trying to hold the first one.

Who Will Style Your Hair

The Styling Team

You can request a stylist by name when you book. If they are unavailable on your date we will tell you rather than quietly reassign you to someone else.

Sofia runs occasion styling and updos, and she builds every style around how long it actually has to survive rather than how it photographs in the first ten minutes. Common Questions

Blow Dry And Styling Questions And Answers

How Much Does A Blow Dry Cost

An express blow dry for short hair starts at $35, a standard blow dry and finish at $45, waves or curly definition at $55, a big volume blow out at $60, occasion styling at $85 and an updo at $95. The wash, the product and the finish are included in all of those.

Is The Wash Included

Always. Shampoo, conditioner, scalp massage and styling product are all inside the quoted price. Some salons add the shampoo at the desk afterwards. We do not, and the figure you are told when you book is the figure you pay.

How Long Does A Blow Dry Last

Three to five days for most people, and two to three on very fine or oily hair. Sleeping in a loose plait or on silk, keeping your hands out of it and using dry shampoo preventatively on night one all extend it noticeably.

Should I Wash My Hair Before I Come

No. The wash is part of the appointment and the shampoo is chosen for the finish you have asked for. Come with as little product in as you can, since yesterday's dry shampoo or heavy cream will fight a volume finish.

Can You Blow Dry Curly Hair Straight

Yes, and it takes longer than the standard slot, so mention it when you book. We use lower heat with more tension rather than high heat, which is gentler on the curl pattern in the long run.

Can You Style My Curls Without Straightening Them

Yes, and it is a normal booking rather than an unusual request. Diffused on low speed and medium heat, curl cupped and left alone until dry. Say which you want when you book and that is what you will get.

Do You Do Updos And Occasion Styling

Yes. Occasion styling starts at $85 and updos at $95, both built to survive a full day and evening rather than the first ten minutes of photographs. Bring your clips, comb or headpiece and we will build the style around them.

Can You Teach Me To Do It Myself

Yes, and it is free. Ask for the walkthrough when you sit down rather than at the end. Your stylist explains the sections, the brush size, the tension and the cool shot while they work, so you can see it happening instead of hearing about it afterwards.

Will A Blow Dry Damage My Hair

Far less than daily straightening does. A professional blow dry uses lower heat, correct technique and heat protection, and it replaces several days of home styling. Once a week is generally gentler than what most people were doing anyway.

Do I Need A Blow Dry With My Cut Or Color

No. A full finish is already included in every cut and every color appointment. Book styling on its own when you want the finish without a service underneath it.

How Far Ahead Should I Book For An Event

Two to three weeks for a normal weekend, and considerably further for prom and wedding season. Saturday morning slots fill first. For an evening event, a morning appointment on the same day works well, because day two hair holds a style better than freshly washed hair.

Why Does My Blow Dry Drop So Fast At Other Salons

Usually one of three things. It was started too wet so the shape never set, the cool shot was skipped so the hair was released warm, or the product was wrong for your density. All three are avoidable and all three are why we work in that specific order.
