Lash Lift By Erothots, Curled Lashes Without Extensions

Your own lashes curled upward from the root and set in place for six to eight weeks. Nothing is glued on, there are no infills to book, and the curler stays in the drawer.

Patch Test Required, Without Exception

A lash lift uses solutions that reform the structure of the hair, and they are working millimetres from your eye. Every client has a patch test at least forty eight hours before, including people we have treated for years, because sensitivity can develop at any point in your life. It takes two minutes at the desk and it is free.

Please also tell us if you have had eye surgery or laser eye treatment in the last six months, if you have or recently had an eye infection or conjunctivitis, if you currently wear lash extensions, or if you are pregnant or nursing. Most of these change the timing rather than rule the treatment out.

Lashes molded over a silicone shield during a lash lift

Molded Over A Shield, Then Set In Place

The Treatment

What A Lash Lift Actually Does

Every hair, including your lashes, holds its shape because of bonds inside the strand. A lift works by temporarily softening those bonds, holding the lash in a new curved position over a silicone shield, and then reforming the bonds so the lash keeps that shape.

It is the same principle as a perm, done with far gentler solutions and considerably more precision, because the working area is a few millimetres of hair sitting directly above your eye. Nothing is added and nothing is glued on. What you leave with is your own lashes, doing something different.

The effect is eyes that look open without mascara. Straight lashes that used to point downward and hide the eyelid now sweep upward and reveal it, which is why so many people are told they look rested when nothing else has changed.

  • 01A free patch test. Forty eight hours before, at the desk, two minutes. Non negotiable for every client on every visit type.
  • 02A proper consultation. Lash length, thickness, condition and growth direction all change the shield size and the processing time. Nothing is standard here.
  • 03The right shield, chosen for you. Four sizes, producing four different curls. The wrong one is the single most common cause of a disappointing lift.
  • 04Processing checked on your lashes. Timed by thickness and condition, checked by eye rather than by a kitchen timer. Fine lashes need considerably less than coarse ones.
  • 05A nourishing finish. A keratin or conditioning serum after the setting stage, to leave the lash in better condition than the process alone would.
  • 06Written aftercare. Handed to you, not recited while you pay. The first twenty four hours decide how good this looks for the next eight weeks.
These are your lashes. We are only changing which direction they point.
A lift adds no length. It curls and opens what you already have. If your lashes are genuinely short or sparse, a lift will underwhelm you and extensions would suit you better. We would rather say that now than take your money.
01
The Protocol

The Six Steps, In Order

Your eyes stay closed for the whole treatment and most people find it relaxing enough to fall asleep. Step three is where lifts are won or lost.

01

Cleanse And Protect

Lashes cleansed of every trace of makeup, oil and residue, because solution cannot work evenly through mascara film. A protective pad is placed under the eye to shield the lower lashes and skin.

02

Shield Placed And Lashes Combed

A silicone shield is positioned along the lash line, then each lash is combed up onto it and held in place. This is the fiddly part, and rushing it is what leaves lashes crossed or kinked.

03

Lifting Solution

Softens the bonds inside the lash so it can take a new shape. Timed by your lash thickness and condition and checked by eye, never left on by the clock. This step is the whole treatment.

04

Setting Solution

Reforms the bonds in the new curved position, locking the shape in. Applied for a matched processing time, because setting too early leaves a weak curl that drops within a fortnight.

05

Tint, If Booked

Applied while the lashes are still on the shield. It darkens right to the fair tips nobody realises they have, and it is what turns a good lift into a dramatic one.

06

Nourish, Remove, Reveal

A keratin or conditioning serum, then the shield is released and lashes are brushed through. You see the result in a hand mirror before you sit up.

02
The Deciding Factor

Choosing Your Shield And Your Curl

The shield is a curved silicone rod that your lashes are molded over, and its size decides how tight the curl comes out. Four sizes are used, and choosing between them is the most important judgement your therapist makes.

Get it wrong in one direction and the curl is so soft you can barely see it. Get it wrong in the other and long lashes curl all the way back and touch the eyelid, which looks strange and cannot be undone. Length, thickness and how much lift you actually want all feed into the choice.

Silicone lash lift shields in four sizes at the Erothots salon
Four Sizes, Four Results
Size S

Tight Curl

The smallest shield and the strongest lift. Reserved for short lashes, which need a tight radius to show any curl at all. On long lashes it would curl them back into the lid.

Size M

Natural Lift

The most used shield by a wide margin. A clear open curve that reads as your lashes on a very good day rather than as a treatment. The default unless there is a reason to change.

Size L

Soft Open Curve

A gentler radius for longer lashes, lifting them upward without over rolling the tips. Produces a wide, doe eyed effect rather than a dramatic curl.

Size XL

Subtle Lift

The largest shield, for very long lashes or anyone who wants the effect to be barely detectable. Opens the eye while looking like nothing has been done at all.

The mistake we correct most often. A small shield used on long lashes, because a tighter curl sounds like a better result. It is not. The lash rolls too far, the tips point back at the eyelid, and there is no way to relax it. Longer lashes need a larger shield, and anyone reaching straight for the small one has not measured.
03
Four Options

Lift, Tint Or Both

The lift opens the eye and the tint gives the definition. Booked together they cost less than two appointments and one patch test covers both.

01 Color Only

Lash Tint

Semi permanent dye from root to tip, including the fair ends almost everyone has without knowing. Excellent alone if your lashes already curl but disappear in photographs.

  • From$30
  • Time20 minutes
  • Lasts3 to 4 weeks
02 The Core

Lash Lift

The full six step treatment with the shield chosen for your lash length. Curl and lift with no color added, which suits anyone whose lashes are already naturally dark.

  • From$85
  • Time45 to 60 minutes
  • Lasts6 to 8 weeks
03 Most Booked

Lash Lift And Tint

How the majority of people book it, and the combination that produces the effect most people are actually picturing. The tint goes on while lashes are still on the shield.

  • From$110
  • Time60 to 75 minutes
  • Lasts6 to 8 weeks
04 Fragile Lashes

Lift, Tint And Keratin

An extended conditioning stage for lashes weakened by extensions, previous lifts or heavy mascara use. Worth the difference if yours feel brittle or have been through a lot.

  • From$130
  • Time75 minutes
  • Lasts6 to 8 weeks
Booking the lift and tint together. Separately they are $115. Together they are $110, take one appointment instead of two, and need only one patch test. There is no reason to split them unless your lashes are already very dark.

We do not offer lash extensions. Applied badly they damage the natural lash, and doing them properly needs a full time technician rather than a service squeezed onto a mixed menu. If extensions are genuinely what would suit you, we will say so rather than sell you a lift and watch you leave disappointed.

Is It For You

Who A Lash Lift Suits, And Who It Does Not

Three situations where it is the perfect answer and three where we will tell you to do something else instead.

SuitsYes

Straight Or Downward Lashes

The clearest case. Decent length lashes that point down hide the eyelid and make eyes look smaller. Redirecting them upward changes the whole eye without adding a thing.

SuitsYes

Anyone Tired Of Maintenance

No infills, no glue, no oil free cleanser, no sleeping carefully. Brush them through daily and that is genuinely the entire commitment for eight weeks.

SuitsYes

Glasses Wearers

Long extensions brush against lenses constantly and it drives people mad. A lift opens the eye without adding the length that causes the problem.

Not YetNo

Very Short Lashes

There has to be enough lash to sit on the shield and hold a curve. Below roughly six millimetres there is nothing to work with, and we will tell you at the consultation rather than after payment.

Not YetNo

Lashes Damaged By Extensions

If yours are thin and brittle from long term extensions, they need a few months of recovery and conditioning first. Lifting damaged lashes stresses them further.

Not YetNo

If You Want Length

A lift curls, it does not lengthen or thicken. If what you are picturing is drama and volume, extensions are the honest answer and we do not offer them.

06
Why It Works

Benefits And Advantages

What eight weeks of not thinking about your lashes is actually worth.

01

No Infills, Ever

Six to eight weeks is a full natural growth cycle. When new lashes come in straight, you rebook. There is nothing in between and nothing to keep up with.

02

Nothing Glued To Your Lashes

No weight sitting on the natural lash and no adhesive to break down. The main mechanism by which extensions cause damage simply is not present.

03

You Stop Wearing Mascara

Most clients do, and not because they were told to. Less product on the lash, less rubbing to remove it, and considerably less time in the morning.

04

The Shield Is Chosen, Not Defaulted

Four sizes, matched to your lash length rather than whichever one is nearest. This is the difference between a lift you love and one that curls into your eyelid.

05

Processing Checked By Eye

Timed on your actual lashes rather than by a fixed clock. Fine lashes over process quickly, and that is what leaves people with frizzy or kinked results elsewhere.

06

This Is Our Original Craft

Erothots began as a lash business seven years ago, and the founder still takes lash appointments each week. Very few salon owners do that once the business is running.

07
Common Complaints

What Usually Goes Wrong Elsewhere

Six things clients describe about a lash lift they had somewhere else, and none of them can be fixed afterwards.

Solution Timed By The Clock

Ten minutes for everyone regardless of lash thickness. Fine lashes process far faster, so they over cook, and the result is frizzy, kinked or brittle with no undo button.

Here InsteadProcessing checked by eye on your own lashes, with the timing set by thickness and condition.

The Wrong Shield Size

A small shield used on long lashes because a tighter curl sounds better. The lash rolls too far and the tips point back at the eyelid, which looks odd and lasts eight weeks.

Here InsteadFour shield sizes, chosen against your actual lash length before anything is applied.

The Patch Test Skipped

Solution applied with no test because the client is in a hurry. Reactions are uncommon, but they happen millimetres from the eye and they can be genuinely serious.

Here InsteadForty eight hours ahead, free, every client, no exceptions made for regulars.

Lashes Rushed Onto The Shield

Combing each lash flat onto the shield is the slow, fiddly part of the job. Rushed, lashes end up crossed, overlapping or stuck together, and they set that way.

Here InsteadThe full time it takes, every lash separated and placed before any solution goes near it.

Aftercare Mentioned At The Till

The twenty four hour water rule said in passing while the card machine beeps. The client showers that evening and loses most of the curl they just paid for.

Here InsteadWritten aftercare in your hand, covering water, mascara, sleeping and brushing.

Lifted Over Damaged Lashes

Someone arrives with lashes thinned by years of extensions and is lifted anyway. Weak lashes cannot take the process well, and breakage follows within weeks.

Here InsteadWe assess condition first and will tell you to recover for a few months if that is the honest answer.
08
Honest Trade Offs

Things To Consider Before You Book

01

You Cannot Undo It

A lift cannot be reversed or relaxed. It grows out over six to eight weeks and that is the only way back, which is precisely why the shield choice matters so much.

02

The First Day Is Restrictive

No water at all for twenty four hours. That includes showers, steam, swimming and crying. It is the rule people break most and the one that costs them the result.

03

It Needs Notice

The patch test means no same day booking. Allow three days minimum, and five to seven before any event you actually care about.

04

Results Vary By Lash Type

Coarse, heavy lashes hold a curl beautifully. Very fine lashes take a softer lift and may drop a little sooner. We will tell you what to expect from yours at the consultation.

Price Guide

Lash Lift Prices And Timings

Starting prices including the free patch test, the consultation, the conditioning finish and written aftercare. Nothing is added at the desk that was not agreed when you booked.

Working out the cost against extensions. A lift and tint at $110 every eight weeks is roughly $715 a year. Extensions at a typical infill rhythm run several times that, plus the appointment time. That is the honest comparison, and it is why so many people switch across and stay.

Before And After

Preparation And Aftercare

The preparation is short. The first twenty four hours afterwards decide how this looks for the following eight weeks, and it is the part people underestimate.

Lashes after a lift treatment at the Erothots beauty salon
Before You Arrive
  • Book the patch test first. Forty eight hours ahead, free, two minutes at the desk. Without it the appointment cannot go ahead, and that applies to everyone.
  • Come with no eye makeup at all. Mascara residue stops the solution binding evenly, and waterproof formulas are the worst offenders. This affects the result more than anything else you control.
  • Remove contact lenses. Bring your glasses or a case. Your eyes stay closed throughout, and lenses are uncomfortable for an hour of that.
  • Do not use a curler that morning. Lashes need to be in their natural resting position so the shield sits correctly against the lash line.
  • Book five to seven days before an event. The curl settles and softens slightly over the first few days, and it looks its most natural from about day three onward.
The First Forty Eight Hours
  • No water for twenty four hours. Showers, steam, swimming, saunas and crying all count. The bonds are still settling and water at this stage relaxes the curl straight back out.
  • No mascara for forty eight hours. Most people find they stop wearing it altogether after the first lift, which is rather the point of the treatment.
  • Do not sleep face down on the first night. A pillow can flatten one side, and once it sets that way it stays that way for eight weeks.
  • Do not rub your eyes. The commonest cause of one side dropping earlier than the other. If your eyes itch, tell us and we will check nothing is irritating them.
  • Brush daily with a clean spoolie. Ten seconds a day from day two onward. It keeps the curl even and it is the whole ongoing maintenance routine.

Common Questions

Lash Lift Questions

What Is A Lash Lift

Your own lashes are combed onto a silicone shield, treated with a solution that softens the bonds inside the hair, then set with a second solution that reforms those bonds in the new curved position. Nothing is glued on and no length is added. The result is lashes curling upward from the root instead of pointing down.

How Much Does A Lash Lift Cost

The patch test is free. A lash tint is $30, a lash lift is $85, a lift with tint is $110 and a lift with tint and keratin is $130. A bottom lash tint is $20. The consultation, conditioning finish and written aftercare are included in all of them.

How Long Does A Lash Lift Last

Six to eight weeks, which is a full natural lash growth cycle. There are no infills and nothing to maintain beyond brushing them through daily. When new lashes grow in straight and the effect starts looking uneven, it is time to rebook.

Does A Lash Lift Hurt

No. Your eyes stay closed for the whole treatment and you should feel nothing beyond the shield resting against the lid. A good number of people fall asleep. If anything stings at any point, say so immediately and it comes off straight away.

Do I Need A Patch Test

Yes, at least forty eight hours before, and there are no exceptions including for clients we have treated for years. Sensitivity can develop at any point in your life, and a reaction this close to the eye is not something to gamble with. It is free and takes two minutes.

Lash Lift Or Extensions, Which Should I Choose

A lift if your natural lashes are a decent length but point downward, since it opens the eye with no ongoing maintenance and no glue. Extensions if your lashes are short or sparse and you want real length and volume. We do not offer extensions, and we will tell you honestly if that is what would actually suit you.

Will It Damage My Natural Lashes

Not when the processing is correct, which is exactly why we time by lash thickness and check by eye rather than using a fixed clock. Over processing is what causes brittle or frizzy lashes. We also condition at the end, and we will decline to lift lashes that are already damaged until they have recovered.

Can I Wear Mascara Afterwards

Not for forty eight hours, and no water at all for the first twenty four. After that you can, though most people find they stop wearing it altogether, which is largely why they booked. Avoid waterproof formulas, since removing them means rubbing.

How Soon Before A Wedding Should I Book

Five to seven days before, never the day before. The curl settles and softens slightly over the first few days and looks its most natural from about day three. If it is your first lift, have a trial run two or three months ahead so there are no surprises.

Can I Have A Lift With Extensions On

No. Extensions must be fully removed first, and if yours have been in long term the natural lashes underneath usually need a few months of recovery before a lift is a good idea. We will look at the condition and tell you honestly how long to wait.

Can I Have A Lash Lift While Pregnant

Many people choose to wait, partly because hormonal changes can affect how lashes take the solution and results become unpredictable. Tell us at booking, and treat it as a conversation for you and your doctor rather than a decision for us to make on your behalf.

What If I Do Not Like The Curl

A lift cannot be reversed or relaxed, which is why the shield size is measured against your lash length rather than guessed. Tell us within seven days and we will look at it. At your next appointment we can move a size up or down to adjust the curl for you.
