Classic Hair Spa
The standard appointment. Scalp treatment, extended massage, a mask matched to your porosity, warmth, cool rinse and a finish. The right starting point if nothing is badly wrong and you simply want your hair in better condition.
Deep conditioning for the lengths and proper treatment for the scalp, which is where most hair problems actually start. The mask is chosen by your porosity, so fine hair is not weighed down and coarse hair is not left still thirsty.
Damaged or uneven hair absorbs color unevenly, which is what causes patchy roots and ends that grab too dark. A hair spa in the two weeks before a color appointment evens out porosity along the hair shaft, so the color takes more predictably and the tone lasts longer. Almost everybody books it the wrong way round.
The Scalp Is Assessed Before Anything Is Chosen
Most people think of a hair spa as a conditioner left on for longer. It is not. It is two treatments in one appointment, one for the scalp and one for the lengths, and they use different products because they have different problems.
The scalp is skin. It gets oily, dry, flaky, congested and irritated exactly like the skin on your face, and almost every complaint about limp hair, itching or excess shedding starts there rather than in the hair itself. Treating only the lengths is like moisturising your cheeks and ignoring a rash.
The scalp is skin. Treat it like a face and the hair usually follows.
Six formulas for six different problems. The assessment at the start of your appointment decides which one you need, and it is often not the one people expect.

The standard appointment. Scalp treatment, extended massage, a mask matched to your porosity, warmth, cool rinse and a finish. The right starting point if nothing is badly wrong and you simply want your hair in better condition.

For hair that feels rough, looks dull and tangles constantly. Heavier hydration through the mid lengths and ends with humectants that hold water in the hair rather than sitting on top of it. Steam is used to drive it in.

For lightened, over processed or heat damaged hair that stretches when wet and snaps when dry. Protein rebuilds structure and bond repair reconnects what lightening broke. Genuinely different work from a moisture mask.

For an oily scalp, heavy product build up, hard water residue or hair that goes flat within a day of washing. A gentle exfoliation lifts what has accumulated at the root, which is often the entire reason hair has stopped holding volume.

Soothing rather than stripping, for tightness, itching and visible flaking. A common mistake is clarifying a dry scalp, which makes it flake more. If a medical condition is causing it, we will say so and suggest you see a doctor rather than keep selling you treatments.

A shorter version that fits inside a lunch break or gets added to another appointment. Scalp treatment, a shorter massage and a rinse out mask. Less thorough, but far better than skipping it entirely for another two months.
Seven stages. The order matters as much as the products, particularly the last two.
We look at your scalp under good light and test how your hair takes water. High porosity soaks it up instantly, low porosity beads and resists. That single test changes which formula goes on.
Whether you need moisture or protein, and they are opposites. Loading protein onto hair that needed moisture makes it brittle. This is the mistake we correct most often.
Onto the scalp itself, in sections, with the right formula for what we found. Detoxifying, soothing or balancing, and never the same bottle for all three.
Eight to ten minutes of real pressure work rather than a token rub at the basin. It stimulates circulation, works the product in properly, and it is the reason people book this appointment on a bad week.
Applied from the mid lengths down and kept off the roots, where it would only weigh things flat. Combed through so every strand is covered rather than just the outside layer.
Gentle heat opens the cuticle so the mask gets inside. Skipped entirely on high porosity hair, which already absorbs everything and would only be over softened by it.
Rinsed cool to close the cuticle and lock the treatment in, then blow dried and finished. Rinsing warm at this point undoes a noticeable amount of the work.
Porosity is how easily your hair takes in and holds water. It is the single most useful thing to know about your hair and almost nobody is ever told theirs. Here is how the three types differ.
| Point Of Difference | Low Porosity | Medium Porosity | High Porosity |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Cuticle | Tightly closed and flat | Slightly open, balanced | Lifted with visible gaps |
| Water Test | Beads on the surface, slow to wet | Absorbs evenly | Soaks in instantly |
| Drying Time | Very slow | Average | Very fast |
| Usually Caused By | Natural, often virgin or fine hair | Healthy, undamaged hair | Lightening, heat, chemical work |
| The Risk | Product sits on top and weighs it down | Little, if maintained | Absorbs fast, loses it just as fast |
| What It Needs | Light water based products and warmth | Balanced maintenance | Protein, bond repair and sealing |
| Our Treatment | Deep Moisture, light formula | Classic Hair Spa | Protein And Bond Repair |
Six common complaints and what actually sits behind them. The answer is frequently not the treatment people come in asking for.
Almost always scalp build up rather than the hair itself. A detox lifts what has accumulated at the root, and volume usually returns without changing a single styling product.
A moisture problem. Deep hydration with humectants that hold water in the hair. Reaching for protein here is what makes dry hair feel worse rather than better.
A structural problem, not a dryness problem. This is what protein and bond repair are for, and no amount of moisture mask will fix it.
Could be dryness, could be build up, and the two need opposite treatments. Clarifying a dry scalp makes it flake more, which is why we assess before choosing.
Scalp treatments improve the environment hair grows in and can help with shedding tied to congestion or product build up. They do not treat medical hair loss, and if shedding is sudden or heavy you should see a doctor rather than book a course of treatments.
Usually high porosity. The color goes in easily and washes straight back out. Bond repair before your next appointment will hold the tone considerably longer.
Often Booked Together
What changes, and which of those changes people notice first.
Not just the lengths. Most complaints about limp hair, itching and excess shedding start at the scalp, and treating only the ends never resolves them.
Six formulas rather than one house mask. Fine hair leaves with its volume and coarse hair leaves genuinely satisfied, because they were given different products.
Even porosity means even color absorption. Booked two weeks before a color appointment, it prevents patchy results and holds tone longer.
Bond repair and protein rebuild what heat and lightening take out. Fewer snapped mid lengths means length that actually keeps rather than constantly needing cutting back.
A sealed cuticle holds less water and takes on less humidity. The effect is milder than a keratin treatment, and it involves no chemicals at all.
Eight to ten minutes of real pressure work at the scalp. Clients regularly book this appointment for the massage first and the hair benefits second.
Six reasons a treatment feels like a waste of money. None of these are unique to any one salon.
The same tub used on fine, coarse, virgin and bleached hair. It will suit roughly a third of clients and disappoint the rest, and nobody is ever told why it did not work for them.
Here InsteadSix formulas, chosen after a porosity test rather than by looking at your hair and guessing.A mask smoothed on at the basin, left while the stylist checks their phone, rinsed off. Charged as a treatment and delivered as a conditioner.
Here InsteadForty five to sixty minutes with scalp work, warmth, a proper mask and a cool rinse, all booked as its own appointment.Mask on the lengths, nothing at the root. Yet the scalp is where oiliness, flaking, itching and congestion all come from, so the actual problem goes untreated.
Here InsteadA separate scalp product and an eight to ten minute massage in every treatment.Protein and moisture are opposites, and dry hair loaded with protein goes brittle and straw like. It is the single most common error in salon treatments and it makes hair worse, not better.
Here InsteadThe porosity test tells us which of the two your hair actually needs before anything is opened.Heavy mask taken right up to the scalp. It flattens the root, clogs the follicle area and leaves hair looking greasy within a day of a treatment meant to improve it.
Here InsteadMask from the mid lengths down. Scalp products at the scalp. They are not interchangeable.A hot rinse at the end leaves the cuticle wide open, so a good portion of what was just put in runs straight back out down the drain.
Here InsteadA cool rinse to close the cuticle and seal the treatment in. It is a small step and it changes the result. What this treatment can and cannot do for you.
Two to four weeks per treatment. It is maintenance rather than a fix, and it works best as a rhythm every four to six weeks instead of a one off.
Nothing can. A split end can be temporarily smoothed but only cutting removes it, and leaving splits to travel costs you far more length than trimming does.
Scalp treatments improve the condition of the skin and the environment hair grows in. They do not treat hair loss conditions, and we will tell you to see a doctor rather than sell you a course.
The wrong mask will flatten fine hair for days. That is precisely why we test porosity first rather than reaching for the richest product on the shelf.
Starting prices including the assessment, the scalp work, the massage and the finish. Very long or very dense hair needs more product, quoted at the consultation before anything begins.

Six habits that make the difference between a treatment lasting two weeks and lasting six.
Give the treatment time to settle in before the next shampoo. Washing the next morning strips out a meaningful share of what went in.
The most useful habit on this list. Shampoo is for the scalp, conditioner is for the lengths, and swapping them round causes both the problems people complain about.
Both, never only one. Protein every wash makes hair brittle. Moisture every wash makes it limp. Alternating keeps the balance the treatment set.
The last thirty seconds under cooler water closes the cuticle. It costs nothing and it is the easiest professional habit to copy at home.
Three or four minutes with your fingertips, two or three times a week, dry or in the shower. Free, and it keeps circulation going between appointments.
The rhythm is what produces the change. One treatment feels lovely. Four across six months is what visibly improves the condition of your hair.
You can request a stylist by name when you book. If they are unavailable on your date we will tell you rather than quietly reassign you to someone else.

Priya runs all the conditioning and scalp work. She chooses by porosity rather than by hair type labels, which is why fine hair leaves here with its volume and coarse hair leaves genuinely satisfied. She is also the person most likely to tell you that your problem is your shampoo rather than your hair, and to say it before you have spent anything.

Tia founded Erothots seven years ago and is fully qualified and insured. She does not carry out treatments herself, but she set the rules the team works to: a real assessment before any product is chosen, a full hour booked rather than a three minute add on, and honesty about when a doctor is the right answer instead of a course of appointments. If something is not right, she wants to hear it directly.
Six other hair services. A hair spa is worth booking before most of them rather than after.
Full color, roots, gloss and gray coverage. Book a hair spa two weeks before for more even results and longer lasting tone.
See Hair ColorHand painted lightening. Bond repair beforehand genuinely helps if your ends are already stressed.
See BalayageSmoothing for frizz and drying time. The stronger answer when a hair spa is not quite enough on its own.
See KeratinPrecision cutting. The only thing that genuinely removes split ends, which no treatment can repair.
See Women's HaircutWash and finish. Conditioned hair dries faster and holds a style noticeably longer.
See Blow DryTrial and wedding day styling, with treatments scheduled across the months before rather than the week of.
See Bridal HairTwo treatments in one appointment. One for the scalp, using a product chosen for its condition, plus an eight to ten minute massage. One for the lengths, using a mask matched to your porosity, with warmth to help it absorb and a cool rinse to seal it in. It finishes with a blow dry.
An express scalp treatment starts at $45, the classic hair spa at $75, deep moisture and scalp detox at $85, the flaky scalp treatment at $95 and protein bond repair at $110. A shortened version can be added to another appointment for $35.
Every four to six weeks for a visible improvement in condition. One treatment feels lovely for a fortnight. The change people actually notice comes from a rhythm across several months rather than a single appointment.
Yes, in four ways. Salon strength formulas, a scalp treatment your home mask does not include, controlled heat to open the cuticle, and a cool rinse to close it again. Your home mask keeps things going between appointments rather than replacing them.
It can help where shedding is linked to a congested scalp, heavy product build up or poor circulation, because it improves the environment hair grows in. It is not a medical treatment and it does not treat hair loss conditions. If your shedding is sudden, heavy or patchy, please see a doctor rather than book a course of treatments.
Yes, and the timing matters. Ideally book a full hair spa two weeks before your color, because even porosity means the color takes evenly and the tone holds longer. A shortened version can also be added on the same day for $35.
Very. Scalp detox and clarifying is designed for exactly that, lifting the build up at the root that makes hair go flat within a day of washing. Many people find their volume returns without changing a single styling product.
The dry and flaky scalp treatment is soothing rather than stripping, which matters because clarifying a dry scalp usually makes the flaking worse. If we think a medical condition is behind it, we will tell you honestly and suggest you see a doctor first.
Not if the right formula is used, which is exactly why we test porosity first. Fine hair usually needs a light water based treatment and warmth rather than a rich butter, and the mask is always kept off the roots.
They are opposites and getting it wrong makes hair worse. If your hair stretches when wet and snaps when dry, it needs protein. If it feels rough, dull and tangles constantly, it needs moisture. The porosity test settles it in about a minute at your appointment.
Yes, and bleached hair benefits more than most. Protein and bond repair is usually the right treatment, because lightening breaks bonds inside the hair and moisture alone will not rebuild them.
Two to four weeks per treatment, longer if you wash the scalp and condition the ends properly and alternate moisture with protein at home. It is maintenance rather than a permanent fix, which is why we recommend rebooking at four to six weeks.
Tell us what your hair and scalp are actually doing rather than which treatment you think you need. We will assess it properly and choose from there, and if the honest answer is a different service we will say so.
