My name is Sthefany Maia and I am the lead designer at Erothots. I started cutting patterns before I ever sketched a collection, which is probably why my clothes look the way they do. I care more about how a shoulder sits than about how a piece photographs.
I trained in pattern cutting and garment construction, then spent years in bridal and occasion ateliers fitting women who had been told their whole lives that they were a difficult size. They were not. The clothes were badly drafted. That is the problem I co-founded this studio to solve.
Every collection here begins on paper, gets made up in calico, and is corrected on a real body before a single piece goes into cloth. Nothing is designed flat on a screen and sent away to be produced by someone I have never met. If your dress needs the waist raised half an inch, I am the person who will raise it.
I would rather sell you one piece you wear for ten years than ten you wear once.
How I Work
One Idea, One Fabric Story, One Set Of Blocks
A designer collection is a group of pieces built around one idea, using one fabric story, drafted from one set of blocks. That is the technical answer. The practical answer is that everything in a collection is designed to work with everything else in it, so a jacket from Look 04 will sit correctly over a dress from Look 01 without you having to think about it.
What it does not mean here is mass production. I cut each style in a short run, usually ten to fourteen pieces, and when a cloth is finished it is finished. Some pieces exist only once because I bought a single length of something I could not leave behind.
It also does not mean the garment arrives finished and final. Every collection piece is fitted to you before you take it home, and the standard adjustments are included in the price. If a piece needs to be rebuilt around your measurements rather than adjusted, that becomes a custom tailoring commission and I will tell you honestly which of the two you need.
The Six Lines
Six collections run through the studio at any time. Each one has its own fabric story and its own reason to exist, and each one is fitted to you before it leaves the rail.
The line I build everything else around. Sculpted shoulders, clean waist seams and a color palette that stays quiet so the cut does the talking. Cut in wool crepe, heavy linen and silk cotton blends.

Gowns with internal structure that does the work so you are not adjusting yourself all day. Includes reception dresses, mother of the bride pieces and bridesmaid styles that can be coordinated across a party.

Cocktail through black tie, cut so you can sit down in it. Bias silk, duchess satin and crepe, with hidden support built into the bodice instead of relying on what you wear underneath.

Suiting for people who actually wear suits. Half canvassed jackets, trousers drafted for a real hip to waist ratio, and shirting with enough ease across the back to reach forward without the shoulder pulling.

Lehengas, kurta sets, abayas and saree blouses drafted with the drape each style expects, rather than flattened into a western silhouette. Hand finished edges and linings chosen for climate as much as for looks.

Five stages, and you can stop at any of them. Nothing is charged until you have seen the piece on your own body.
Every Piece Is Fitted Before It Leaves
Come in and see the cloth in person, or start with the studio lookbook if you want to narrow things down before you visit.
Every style has a sample. You try the sample, not a photograph, so you know how the neckline sits and how the fabric behaves when you move.
Most styles run in more than one cloth. We take your measurements, pick the base size that needs the least intervention, and agree the finished length against the shoes you will wear.
Standard adjustments are included. Hem, waist, strap length and sleeve are all corrected on you. If the piece needs restructuring rather than adjusting, I will quote it as custom work instead.
Hems, closures and pressing are finished by hand, then you try the piece one last time before it is bagged. Small corrections at this stage are still included.
Why It Works
What you get from a studio line that a high street rail cannot offer, whatever the price tag says.
Each size is drafted rather than scaled from a single sample, so the proportion holds across the size range instead of collapsing at either end.
The price covers hem, waist, strap and sleeve corrections. You are not buying a garment and then paying someone else to make it wearable.
If something is not sitting right, you talk to the person who drafted the pattern rather than to a shop assistant relaying a message.
Ten to fourteen pieces per style, sold from one studio. You will not meet your own dress at the same event.
Generous seam allowance means a piece can be let out or taken in for years, which is the difference between a wardrobe and a rotation.
All six collections share a palette and a set of blocks, so pieces from different lines are designed to be worn together.
Honest Trade Offs
It is not the right answer for every purchase. Here is where it costs you something, and what I do about it.
When a cloth is used up, that version of the piece is gone. I will not reorder an approximate substitute to keep a style on the rail.
How I Handle ItIf you love something, I will hold it for seven days while you decide, and I will tell you honestly how much of that cloth is left.Adjustments take time. Even a simple hem means leaving the piece with me and returning, so nothing walks out finished on the first visit.
How I Handle ItMost collection adjustments are finished within five to seven days, and I book your collection appointment before you leave.You are paying for drafting, better cloth, full linings and included fitting. That is a real cost and it shows on the ticket.
How I Handle ItStudio Essentials starts at a lower entry point so you can test the fit and the finish before committing to an occasion piece.Once a garment has been cut down to your measurements it cannot be returned to the rail, so it cannot be refunded.
How I Handle ItYou try the studio sample first and approve the fit before anything is cut, so there are no surprises at collection.Occasionally I buy a single length of cloth. That piece exists once, in one size, and cannot be remade in another.
How I Handle ItOne of one pieces are labeled clearly on the rail, so you know before you fall for something whether it can be repeated.A collection piece starts from a studio block. If your measurements sit a long way outside it, adjusting is the wrong tool for the job.

Before You Visit
Collection pieces run from US 0 to US 20 as standard, and the fit is corrected on you rather than assumed from a label. I do not ask what size you usually take, because the answer changes from shop to shop and it tells me nothing useful.

Aftercare
Four habits that decide whether a garment lasts one season or ten.
Wide wooden hangers for anything with a shoulder, clipped hangers for skirts and trousers. Wire hangers destroy the shoulder line I built into the pattern.
Frequent dry cleaning strips natural fibers. Air a piece overnight, treat marks locally, and clean at the end of the season rather than after every wear.
Steam relaxes creases without flattening a lapel roll or a bodice shape. If you must iron, always use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
At the first strain line or slipping hem, bring the piece in. The seam allowance is there so the garment can be adjusted as you change.

The garment, the cloth, and the standard adjustments. That means hem, waist, strap and sleeve corrections fitted on you. Restructuring or resizing beyond two sizes is quoted separately as custom tailoring.
Usually yes, if the cloth suits the pattern. Some styles depend on a specific weight or drape and will not hold their shape in something softer, and I will tell you when that is the case rather than take the order.
US 0 to US 20 as standard, drafted per size rather than graded from one sample. Outside that range I would build the piece as a custom commission so the proportion stays correct.
Studio Essentials takes three to five days, most collections take one to two weeks, and bridal takes four to eight weeks. Bridal should be started at least three months before the date wherever possible.
For bridal, yes, always. For the other collections an appointment is strongly preferred so a fitting room and my time are held for you, but you are welcome to call ahead on the day.
Unaltered pieces can be returned within the studio return window in original condition. Once a garment has been adjusted to your measurements it is final sale, which is why you always try the studio sample and approve the fit first.
A style can be repeated while the cloth lasts. When a bolt runs out that version is finished, and one of one pieces are labeled on the rail so you know before you choose.
Yes. The Bridal And Ceremony collection includes bridesmaid styles that can be coordinated across a party in one cloth and palette, in different silhouettes so each person wears something that suits her.
A collection piece already exists and is adjusted to you. Custom tailoring starts from a pattern drafted or reworked around your measurements. Collections are faster and cost less, custom gives the closest possible fit.
In our own workroom. Patterns, cutting, construction and finishing all happen in the same room, which is why I can promise you a fitting with the person who drafted your garment.
