Timing Matters More Than People Expect

We cannot scrub skin that has been waxed within forty eight hours or shaved within twenty four, and we cannot treat sunburn, broken skin, or a skin condition that is currently flaring. Salt on freshly waxed skin is genuinely unpleasant and there is no reason to find that out the hard way.

If you are having a self tan, book the scrub for the day before rather than the same day, and tell us so we finish with a light lotion instead of an oil. Oil left on the skin is the most common reason a professional tan goes patchy.

Section 01 / The Case For It

Why Exfoliate At All

Your skin replaces itself constantly, shedding dead cells from the surface as new ones arrive from below. In your twenties that cycle takes roughly a month. It slows steadily with age, and the cells that should have left simply stay where they are.

Reason 01

Dullness Is Buildup

Light does not reflect evenly off a rough surface. Skin that looks dull or ashy is usually not lacking anything, it is simply carrying a layer of cells that should have gone weeks ago.

Reason 02

Your Lotion Is Sitting On Top

Body moisturizer applied over accumulated dead cells never reaches living skin. People assume the product is not working when the problem is what is between the product and the skin.

Reason 03

Trapped Hairs Become Ingrowns

A new hair that cannot break through a closed follicle curls back under the surface. Regular exfoliation is the single most effective thing anyone waxing or shaving can do about it.

Reason 04

Self Tan Grabs On Rough Patches

Ankles, knees, elbows and the backs of the heels take up considerably more color than smooth skin. Every patchy tan anybody has ever had traces back to skipping this step.

Reason 05

Texture You Can Feel

The backs of the arms, the outsides of the thighs and the shoulders. Rough to the touch rather than visibly wrong, and the thing people are most surprised by when it goes.

Reason 06

It Is Genuinely Restful

Forty five minutes of somebody working over every part of you in a warm quiet room. We are not going to pretend that is not most of the appeal, because it is.

What it will not do. It will not remove cellulite, tighten anything, or change your body shape. It removes dead skin, which sounds modest and is the entire point. Anywhere claiming more than that about a scrub is selling you something else.
Section 02 / The Choice

Salt, Sugar Or Enzyme

Three genuinely different preparations, and almost nowhere explains the difference or asks which you want. We decide together at the consultation based on your skin and what you are trying to achieve, and there is no price difference between them.

SaltCoarse And Mineral

Larger crystals with sharper edges that dissolve slowly, so the abrasion continues throughout the treatment. The most thorough option and the one that makes the biggest difference to genuinely rough areas.

Coarse
Best ForFeet, elbows, knees, backs of arms, and anyone whose skin tolerates a proper scrub. Not for sensitive or reactive skin, and never over freshly shaved legs.
SugarFine And Softening

Smaller, rounder granules that dissolve quickly in water, so the intensity naturally tapers as the treatment progresses. Sugar also draws moisture into the skin rather than drawing it out.

Medium
Best ForMost people, most of the time. Skin that finds salt too much, anyone prone to redness, and the default choice if you have never had a scrub before.
EnzymeNo Grit At All

Fruit enzymes, typically from papaya or pineapple, that break down the bonds holding dead cells to the surface. Nothing abrasive touches you, and the product simply sits and does the work.

None
Best ForSkin that reacts to friction, anyone with visible redness or broken capillaries, and people who have found every physical scrub too harsh. Gentler and slower.

Chosen At The Consultation, No Price Difference

A Note On Pressure

The body tolerates considerably more exfoliation than the face, which is why a salt scrub across your shoulders is fine while the same product on your cheeks would be a mistake. That is not a license to scrub hard, though.

Harder does not exfoliate more. It reddens skin, and on anyone prone to irritation it makes things worse rather than better. The grain does the work and the hands simply move it around, which is why a good scrub feels firm and rhythmic rather than aggressive.

The grit does the exfoliating. The hands just carry it.
Section 03 / Forty Five Minutes

How The Treatment Runs

Six stages. As with everything here, the forty five minutes is time spent working on you, with the consultation and changing time sitting outside it rather than being deducted.

Before

Consultation And Preparation Choice

Your skin, any conditions or sensitivities, whether you are tanning or waxing soon, and which preparation suits. Then you change in private and get onto the table under the towels while your therapist waits outside.

0 To 6

Dry Brushing

A soft natural bristle brush worked in long strokes toward the heart, over dry skin before anything wet is applied. It lifts the loosest surface cells and warms the skin so the scrub itself works more evenly.

6 To 28

The Scrub Itself

Worked over every area in turn, back and backs of legs first, then turning over for the front. Firm circular work on rough areas like elbows, knees and heels, and lighter across the chest, stomach and inner arms.

28 To 36

Rinsed, Not Wiped

Warm damp towels over every area, changed as they are used, until the skin is genuinely clean. Product wiped rather than rinsed leaves grit behind, and you will find it in your clothes for the rest of the day.

36 To 44

Oil, Worked In Properly

Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs considerably more than it usually would, so this is the most valuable eight minutes of the appointment. Applied with massage strokes rather than simply smoothed over.

44 To 45

Left To Settle

You are left alone to get up in your own time. Do not shower for a few hours if you can avoid it, because the oil is still absorbing and washing it off now undoes most of that last section.

Twenty Minutes Under Warm Blankets

Section 04 / Honestly

What A Body Wrap Actually Does

Body wraps are sold with some of the least credible claims in the entire industry, and we are not going to repeat them.

They do not cause inch loss in any meaningful sense. If you measure smaller immediately afterward, that is compression and temporary fluid shift, and it is back within a day or two. They do not detoxify anything, because that is what your liver and kidneys are for. And they do not cause weight loss.

What a wrap genuinely does is hold a rich, nourishing preparation against warm skin, sealed under blankets, for twenty minutes. That is occlusion, and it increases absorption dramatically compared with applying a product and getting dressed. Over freshly exfoliated skin the effect is considerably greater again.

The other thing it does is put you somewhere warm and dark with nothing to do for twenty minutes. That is not a small thing, and it is why the scrub and wrap is the most restful treatment we offer.

So it is worth the extra forty dollars. Just not for the reasons the industry usually gives. Deeply hydrated skin and twenty minutes of genuine stillness is a fair exchange, and it does not need a claim about toxins attached to it.
Section 05 / Very Common

The Bumps On The Backs Of Your Arms

Small rough bumps across the backs of the upper arms, sometimes the thighs, occasionally elsewhere. Extremely common, entirely harmless, and one of the more frequent reasons people book a scrub without quite wanting to mention it.

It happens when keratin, the protein your skin is largely made of, builds up and plugs the opening of a hair follicle. It tends to run in families, it is usually worse in winter and in dry air, and it very often improves on its own over the years.

Here is the honest part. It cannot be cured and nobody can promise otherwise. What can genuinely change is how it looks and feels, and that comes from consistency rather than from any single treatment.

Scrubbing it harder is the thing that makes it worse.
What Actually Helps
  • Gentle exfoliation, regularly. Sugar rather than salt over those areas, worked lightly. The instinct is to attack it, and attacking it inflames the follicle and leaves you redder and bumpier.
  • Chemical exfoliants at home. Products containing lactic acid, urea or salicylic acid work on the plug itself rather than the surface around it. Two or three times a week, consistently.
  • Moisture, every single day. The least interesting item on the list and the one that does the most. Dry skin makes it dramatically more noticeable, which is why it worsens every winter.
  • Warm showers rather than hot. Hot water strips the skin and leaves it drier, and drier skin makes the texture more pronounced within days.
  • Patience, measured in months. Nothing changes this in one appointment. Six to eight weeks of a proper routine is where people start noticing a real difference.
And if you are not sure what it is. We are not qualified to tell you what any skin condition is, and we will not guess. If bumps are itchy, spreading, painful or changing, see a doctor rather than booking a scrub and hoping.
Section 06 / When To Book It

Timing It Around Everything Else

A body scrub interacts with almost everything else you might book, and getting the order wrong wastes at least one of the treatments. This is the whole sequence.

Before

Scrub, Then Massage. Never The Reverse

Exfoliated skin absorbs massage oil far better, and a scrub after a massage removes the oil you just paid to have worked in. Booked together it is $135 rather than $165, and it runs as one appointment of just under two hours.

2 To 3 Days

Before A Wax, Not The Day Of

Exfoliating a few days ahead helps hairs release cleanly. Doing it the same morning leaves skin already sensitized before the wax begins, which is a considerably less pleasant appointment.

48 Hours

After A Wax, At The Earliest

Follicles are open and the skin is still settling. Salt over freshly waxed skin is genuinely unpleasant and we will move your appointment rather than do it, however much you insist you are fine.

24 Hours

Before A Self Tan

The day before, never the same day. And tell us you are tanning so we finish with a light lotion rather than an oil, because residual oil is the most common cause of a patchy result.

3 To 5 Days

Before A Holiday

Enough time for any slight redness to settle completely, and it leaves skin in the best possible condition to take sun protection evenly. Do not scrub on the day you fly.

Never

On Sunburn Or Broken Skin

Or over a skin condition that is currently flaring. There is no version of this where it is a good idea, and we will reschedule you without any argument about it.

Section 07 / Price Guide

Body Scrub Prices

Every price is for that many minutes of hands on treatment, with the consultation and changing time on top. The preparation you choose makes no difference to the price.

The back cleanse is a different treatment. Not a scrub with a different name. It is essentially a facial performed on the back, with cleansing, exfoliation, steam, extractions where they are needed and a mask. It is the treatment for congestion and breakouts on the back and shoulders rather than for roughness.
Section 08 / Between Appointments

Keeping It Up At Home

A scrub every four weeks does a great deal. A scrub every four weeks plus twenty minutes a week at home does considerably more, and the home part costs nothing.

  • Two or three times a week, not daily. Over exfoliating strips the skin barrier and leaves you drier, redder and more sensitive than when you started. More is genuinely not better here.
  • Chemical over physical for maintenance. A lactic or glycolic body lotion does the work while you sleep, with no scrubbing at all. It is also far harder to overdo than a manual scrub.
  • Moisturize on damp skin. Within three minutes of getting out of the shower, while the skin still holds water. It makes a bigger difference than which product you use.
  • Warm showers, not hot. Hot water strips oils and leaves skin drier, which undoes most of what the exfoliation achieved.
  • Do not scrub the day before a wax. Two or three days ahead is right. The day before leaves skin sensitized going into an already uncomfortable appointment.
  • Dry brush before you shower, not in it. The brush needs dry skin to work. Long strokes toward the heart, lightly, for two or three minutes.
Body oil and aftercare products used after a scrub at Erothots

Applied On Damp Skin, Within Three Minutes

The Twenty Four Hours After
  • Do not shower for a few hours. The oil is still absorbing and washing it off immediately undoes the most valuable part of the treatment.
  • No sun without protection. Freshly exfoliated skin burns more easily. This matters most for anyone booking before a holiday.
  • Skip the sauna, steam room and pool. For a day. Heat and chlorine on newly exposed skin is the reliable route to irritation.
  • Nothing heavily fragranced. Perfumed body spray or scented lotion straight onto freshly scrubbed skin will sting and may leave you blotchy.
Section 09 / Six Complaints

What Usually Goes Wrong Elsewhere

Six things people describe about a scrub somewhere else. Half of them come down to rushing the parts that are not the scrub itself.

Wiped Rather Than Rinsed

A quick pass with a dry towel because rinsing properly takes eight minutes. The client finds grit in their clothes and their car seat for the rest of the day.

Here InsteadWarm damp towels changed repeatedly until the skin is genuinely clean.

One Product For Everybody

Whatever is open on the shelf, used on every client regardless of skin. Salt on someone reactive, or a gentle sugar on skin that needed considerably more.

Here InsteadSalt, sugar or enzyme, chosen at the consultation, with no price difference between them.

Scrubbed Too Hard

On the theory that vigorous means effective. It reddens skin, inflames anyone prone to irritation, and makes bumpy areas worse rather than better.

Here InsteadFirm and rhythmic. The grain does the exfoliating and the hands simply move it.

The Oil Rushed At The End

Smoothed on in ninety seconds because the appointment is overrunning. Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs more than at any other time, and that window gets wasted.

Here InsteadEight minutes, applied with massage strokes rather than simply spread on.

Booked The Day Before A Wax

Nobody asked what else was in the diary. The client arrives for waxing with sensitized skin and has a considerably worse time than they needed to.

Here InsteadWe ask what else you have booked and time it properly around all of it.

Wraps Sold On Inch Loss

Measured before and after, with the difference presented as fat loss. It is compression and fluid, it returns within a day or two, and everybody involved knows it.

Here InsteadA wrap is absorption and stillness. Both are worth having and neither needs exaggerating.
Section 10 / The Team

Who Will Treat You

You can request a therapist by name when you book, and for a combined scrub and massage it is the same person throughout rather than a handover halfway.

Massage Therapist

Selin Kaya

Selin handles all the body work here. She is the reason we stock three preparations rather than one, having spent years watching clients with reactive skin sit through a salt scrub because it was what the trolley had on it. She is also completely direct about the fact that a wrap will not change your measurements, which occasionally disappoints people and has never once lost us a client.

Section 11 / Twelve Answers

Body Scrub Questions

What Is A Body Scrub

A full body exfoliation. Dry brushing first, then a salt, sugar or enzyme preparation worked over every area from shoulders to feet, rinsed off with warm damp towels, and finished with oil worked in properly. Forty five minutes, and the change in how your skin feels is immediate.

How Much Does It Cost

A full body scrub is $70 for forty five minutes. Back and shoulders alone is $45, half body $50, and a scrub with a twenty minute wrap is $110. Booked with a sixty minute massage it is $135 rather than $165, and with a wrap and massage together $175.

Should I Choose Salt Or Sugar

Sugar suits most people, dissolves as it works and draws moisture into the skin. Salt is coarser, lasts longer through the treatment and is the better choice for genuinely rough areas, but not for sensitive or reactive skin. Enzyme uses no grit at all and is for anyone who finds physical scrubs too harsh. We decide together and there is no price difference.

Is It Rough Or Uncomfortable

It should feel firm and rhythmic rather than aggressive. Harder does not exfoliate more, it just reddens the skin. Rough areas like elbows, knees and heels get more pressure while the chest, stomach and inner arms are worked considerably lighter. Tell us at any point if it is too much.

Do I Need To Undress

Yes, though disposable briefs are available and most people use them for this treatment. Your therapist leaves the room while you change and knocks before returning. Only the area being worked on is uncovered at any moment and everything else stays covered by towels.

How Often Should I Have One

Every four weeks suits most people, which roughly matches how long skin takes to turn over. More often than that is rarely useful, and pairing it with two or three gentle exfoliations a week at home does considerably more than booking a professional scrub more frequently.

Can I Have One With Sensitive Skin

Usually yes, using the enzyme preparation, which involves no friction at all. We cannot treat skin that is currently flaring, sunburned or broken. If you are under a doctor's care for a skin condition, please check with them first, since we are not qualified to advise on it.

When Should I Book Around Waxing

Two or three days before a wax, never the day before or the same day, because sensitized skin makes an already uncomfortable appointment worse. Afterward, wait a full forty eight hours. Salt over freshly waxed skin is genuinely unpleasant and we will reschedule you rather than do it.

When Should I Book Before A Self Tan

The day before, not the same day, and tell us you are tanning so we finish with a light lotion rather than an oil. Residual oil on the skin is the single most common reason a tan goes patchy, and rough areas like ankles, knees and elbows grabbing too much color is the second.

Do Body Wraps Make You Lose Inches

No. Any immediate change in measurement is compression and temporary fluid shift, and it returns within a day or two. What a wrap actually does is hold a rich preparation against warm skin under blankets for twenty minutes, which dramatically increases absorption. That is genuinely worth having, and it does not need any other claim attached.

Can I Combine A Scrub With A Massage

Yes, and the scrub always goes first. Exfoliated skin absorbs massage oil considerably better, and doing it the other way round scrubs the oil straight back off. Booked together it is $135 rather than $165 and runs as one appointment of just under two hours with the same therapist throughout.

What Should I Do At Home

Exfoliate two or three times a week, not daily, and use a chemical exfoliant such as a lactic or glycolic body lotion rather than scrubbing manually. Moisturize on damp skin within three minutes of getting out of the shower, and keep showers warm rather than hot. That last point does more than most people expect.
