The thing people are most anxious about is almost never the wax. It is not knowing what the room will be like, what they will be asked to do, or how exposed they will be. So here it is, written down, before you arrive.

You are in a private room with the door closed. Not a curtained bay, not a corner of a shared space. Nobody walks in for anything, and the door stays closed for the whole appointment.

You get changed in private after your therapist has left the room, and she knocks before coming back in. You are covered with a towel throughout, and only the small section being worked on at that moment is uncovered.

• On your back for the front sections. Knees bent, feet together and knees dropped outward. Your therapist works from the side, not from the end of the couch.
• One knee drawn up for the sides. Still on your back, one leg bent up and out at a time. You hold the skin taut yourself here, which genuinely helps and gives you something to do.
• Rolled onto your side for the back. Top knee pulled toward your chest. This is the position people dread and it is far less exposing than they expect.
• You will not be asked to get on all fours. Some salons do this. We do not, and side lying reaches everything perfectly well.
• Told before every single strip. Where it is and when it is coming. Being surprised is most of what makes waxing feel worse than it actually is.
• Stop means stop, immediately. No explanation required, nobody will try to talk you into continuing, and you pay only for what was done.

It hurts. We are not going to tell you otherwise. What we can tell you is which parts hurt most, which parts are far easier than people fear, and what genuinely reduces it.

• Book for the middle of your cycle. Skin is measurably more sensitive in the few days before and during a period. If your booking is flexible this is the single easiest change to make.
• Skip coffee that morning. Caffeine heightens sensitivity for most people. So does a hangover, and so does being exhausted.
• Breathe out as the strip comes away. Not in, and definitely not holding your breath. Every regular ends up passing this one on, because it works.
• Do not tense. Tensed muscle makes removal harder and more painful. Easier said than done on a first visit, which is exactly why the test patch exists.
• Speed matters more than anything. A fast, confident therapist is the biggest single factor in how a Brazilian feels. It is why we do not book these into rushed slots and why our regulars request the same person.
• If you want a numbing product. Some people use an over the counter topical one, applied thirty to forty five minutes beforehand. Ask a pharmacist first, follow the instructions, and never use it on broken skin. We do not apply it for you.

Intimate skin is thinner and warmer than anywhere else on the body, and it spends the day inside clothing. That combination is why aftercare matters more here than on a leg wax.

• Loose cotton underwear, and nothing tight. For at least twenty four hours. Tight seams and synthetic fabric on open follicles is the single most reliable route to bumps three days later.
• No sex for twenty four hours. Friction on freshly waxed skin with open follicles is an infection risk, not just an irritation one. This is the item people most often skip and most often regret.
• No gym, sauna, swimming or hot baths. Forty eight hours. Sweat, chlorine and heat all irritate open follicles, and a hot bath the same evening will make everything flare rather than settle.
• Nothing perfumed on the area. No scented washes, no body spray, no wipes. Plain water for the first day, and an unfragranced moisturizer after that.
• Start exfoliating on day three. Then two or three times a week with a gentle chemical exfoliant rather than a scrub. This is what actually prevents ingrown hairs, and it needs doing every week rather than only before appointments.
• Do not shave in between. The single most common reason waxing never improves for somebody. It cuts hair mid shaft and resets the growth cycle, so nothing ever syncs.
