A lash lift uses solutions that reform the structure of the hair, and they are working millimetres from your eye. Every client has a patch test at least forty eight hours before, including people we have treated for years, because sensitivity can develop at any point in your life. It takes two minutes at the desk and it is free.
Please also tell us if you have had eye surgery or laser eye treatment in the last six months, if you have or recently had an eye infection or conjunctivitis, if you currently wear lash extensions, or if you are pregnant or nursing. Most of these change the timing rather than rule the treatment out.
Molded Over A Shield, Then Set In Place
Every hair, including your lashes, holds its shape because of bonds inside the strand. A lift works by temporarily softening those bonds, holding the lash in a new curved position over a silicone shield, and then reforming the bonds so the lash keeps that shape.
It is the same principle as a perm, done with far gentler solutions and considerably more precision, because the working area is a few millimetres of hair sitting directly above your eye. Nothing is added and nothing is glued on. What you leave with is your own lashes, doing something different.
The effect is eyes that look open without mascara. Straight lashes that used to point downward and hide the eyelid now sweep upward and reveal it, which is why so many people are told they look rested when nothing else has changed.
These are your lashes. We are only changing which direction they point.
Your eyes stay closed for the whole treatment and most people find it relaxing enough to fall asleep. Step three is where lifts are won or lost.
Lashes cleansed of every trace of makeup, oil and residue, because solution cannot work evenly through mascara film. A protective pad is placed under the eye to shield the lower lashes and skin.
A silicone shield is positioned along the lash line, then each lash is combed up onto it and held in place. This is the fiddly part, and rushing it is what leaves lashes crossed or kinked.
Softens the bonds inside the lash so it can take a new shape. Timed by your lash thickness and condition and checked by eye, never left on by the clock. This step is the whole treatment.
Reforms the bonds in the new curved position, locking the shape in. Applied for a matched processing time, because setting too early leaves a weak curl that drops within a fortnight.
Applied while the lashes are still on the shield. It darkens right to the fair tips nobody realises they have, and it is what turns a good lift into a dramatic one.
A keratin or conditioning serum, then the shield is released and lashes are brushed through. You see the result in a hand mirror before you sit up.
The shield is a curved silicone rod that your lashes are molded over, and its size decides how tight the curl comes out. Four sizes are used, and choosing between them is the most important judgement your therapist makes.
Get it wrong in one direction and the curl is so soft you can barely see it. Get it wrong in the other and long lashes curl all the way back and touch the eyelid, which looks strange and cannot be undone. Length, thickness and how much lift you actually want all feed into the choice.
The smallest shield and the strongest lift. Reserved for short lashes, which need a tight radius to show any curl at all. On long lashes it would curl them back into the lid.
The most used shield by a wide margin. A clear open curve that reads as your lashes on a very good day rather than as a treatment. The default unless there is a reason to change.
A gentler radius for longer lashes, lifting them upward without over rolling the tips. Produces a wide, doe eyed effect rather than a dramatic curl.
The largest shield, for very long lashes or anyone who wants the effect to be barely detectable. Opens the eye while looking like nothing has been done at all.
The lift opens the eye and the tint gives the definition. Booked together they cost less than two appointments and one patch test covers both.
Semi permanent dye from root to tip, including the fair ends almost everyone has without knowing. Excellent alone if your lashes already curl but disappear in photographs.

The clearest case. Decent length lashes that point down hide the eyelid and make eyes look smaller. Redirecting them upward changes the whole eye without adding a thing.
No infills, no glue, no oil free cleanser, no sleeping carefully. Brush them through daily and that is genuinely the entire commitment for eight weeks.
Long extensions brush against lenses constantly and it drives people mad. A lift opens the eye without adding the length that causes the problem.
There has to be enough lash to sit on the shield and hold a curve. Below roughly six millimetres there is nothing to work with, and we will tell you at the consultation rather than after payment.
If yours are thin and brittle from long term extensions, they need a few months of recovery and conditioning first. Lifting damaged lashes stresses them further.
A lift curls, it does not lengthen or thicken. If what you are picturing is drama and volume, extensions are the honest answer and we do not offer them.

Many people choose to wait, partly because hormonal changes can affect how lashes take the solution and results become unpredictable. Tell us at booking, and treat it as a conversation for you and your doctor rather than a decision for us to make on your behalf.
A lift cannot be reversed or relaxed, which is why the shield size is measured against your lash length rather than guessed. Tell us within seven days and we will look at it. At your next appointment we can move a size up or down to adjust the curl for you.
