Erothots Fashion Studio

Bespoke Styling By Erothots, Personal Wardrobe Sessions

Most people do not need more clothes. They need to know which of the clothes they already own are working, and why the other two thirds never leave the hanger. That is the whole job, and I do it one wardrobe at a time.

The Work Itself

What Bespoke Styling Actually Is

Bespoke styling is a working session about your clothes, not a shopping trip. We go through what you own, decide what stays, what needs altering and what should leave, and then build the outfits that actually get worn out of what remains.

It is not about a personality type or a color season chart. It is about proportion, occasion and the life you actually live. Someone on her feet in a school all week and at events twice a month needs a very different wardrobe from someone doing the reverse, even if they are the same size and love the same things.

I will tell you honestly when something does not work, and just as honestly when a piece you were about to give away is one of the best things you own. That second conversation happens more often than the first.

Where a garment is nearly right but not quite, we fix it rather than replace it. The studio does that work in house, so a session often ends with three or four pieces going straight to the fitting room instead of to a charity bag.

You do not have a nothing to wear problem. You have a nothing put together problem.
No commission, ever. I am not paid by any brand and I earn nothing on what you buy. If the right answer is to buy nothing and alter four things you already own, that is what I will say.

Your Stylist

Meet Your Stylist At Erothots

My name is Ilary and I run the styling side of Erothots. I came to this from retail rather than from editorial, which I think matters. I spent years watching people buy things they never wore, and the reason was almost never taste. It was proportion, or an occasion that never came, or one missing piece that would have made three other things work.

I style the studio lookbook, so I know every garment we make from the inside out, including which ones photograph beautifully and behave badly in real life. That is useful information and I will share it with you rather than sell you something.

What I am not is a personal shopper on commission. If the right answer for you is to buy nothing at all, that is what you will hear.

Three Sessions

The Three Styling Sessions

Three formats, and I will tell you at the first inquiry which one you actually need rather than which one costs the most. Every session happens in the studio or at your home within the local area.

Session 01 Two Hours / From $180

The Wardrobe Edit

We go through everything. Not the highlights, everything, including the back of the rail and the box under the bed. Each piece gets one of three answers: it works as it is, it works after alteration, or it is not earning its space.

By the end you will have a set of outfits photographed on your phone, a short alteration list, and a much smaller wardrobe that produces far more to wear. Most people leave with between fifteen and twenty five workable outfits from clothes they already owned.

Event And Occasion Styling

One date, one look, done properly. You tell me the event, the venue, the time of day and how long you will be standing in it, and we build the whole thing including shoes, layers and what happens when the temperature drops at nine o'clock.

If the answer is already in your wardrobe we will find it. If it is not, we look at the studio rail before anyone suggests buying anything new, and I will tell you plainly if a piece needs altering to work on the day.

Seasonal Refresh

The longest session, and the one that changes how you shop. We map your actual week, work out how many of each kind of outfit you genuinely need, then audit what you own against that map and find the gaps.

You leave with a short, specific shopping list. Not a mood board, a list. Four items with the exact cut, color and price ceiling written down, so you stop buying the fifth version of something you already own three of.

On The Day

How A Styling Session Works

Six stages. Nothing is thrown away without your agreement and nothing is bought during the session itself.

  1. Stage 01

    The Brief Call

Fifteen minutes before we book anything. I ask what your week actually looks like, what you keep reaching for, and what you own that makes you feel wrong. That call decides which session you need.

  2. Stage 02

    Occasion Mapping

We write down where your clothes actually have to go. Work, school run, events, weekends, travel. Almost every wardrobe problem turns out to be a mismatch between this map and what is hanging up.

  3. Stage 03

    The Sort

Everything comes out. Each piece goes into works, alter, or release. You have the final say on every single item and I will not push you to part with anything you are not ready to part with.

  4. Stage 04

    Building The Outfits

We put together complete looks from what survived the sort, including shoes and layers, and photograph each one on your phone so you are not rebuilding them from memory at seven in the morning.

  5. Stage 05

    The Alteration List

Anything in the alter pile gets written up with what needs doing. You can have that work done here or anywhere else, and I will tell you roughly what each job should cost so you are not overcharged.

  6. Stage 06

    The Gap List

Only at the end do we talk about buying, and only about genuine gaps. Specific cut, specific color, specific price ceiling. If there are no gaps, the list is empty and that is a good outcome.

Deliverables

What You Take Home

Every session ends with something concrete. Advice you cannot remember a week later is not worth paying for.

Item 01

Photographed Outfits

Every look we build is photographed on your own phone, in your own light, so you can rebuild it in two minutes on a weekday morning.

Item 02

A Written Alteration List

Each piece in the alter pile, what needs doing to it, and roughly what that work should cost wherever you have it done.

Item 03

An Occasion Map

A one page picture of where your clothes actually need to go each week, which is the reference point for every future purchase.

Item 04

A Specific Gap List

Cut, color, fabric and a price ceiling for each genuine gap. Short enough to keep in your phone and use in a shop.

Item 05

A Release Pile, Sorted

Sorted into sell, donate and recycle, with a note on which pieces have real resale value rather than everything going in one bag.

Item 06

A Follow Up Message

A written summary sent afterward so nothing from the session lives only in your memory of a busy afternoon.

Why It Works

Six Things That Change After A Session

What actually shifts once the work is done, beyond the obvious.

Reason 01

You Stop Rebuying The Same Thing

Almost everyone owns three versions of one item and none of another. Seeing it laid out ends that cycle permanently.

Reason 02

Mornings Get Shorter

Decisions made once, in daylight, with time. Photographed outfits remove the daily rebuild entirely.

Reason 03

You Spend Less Overall

A specific list beats browsing. Most clients spend less in the six months after a session than in the six months before it.

Reason 04

Clothes You Own Get Rescued

A hem, a sleeve or a waist adjustment routinely brings four or five pieces back into rotation for a fraction of replacement cost.

Reason 05

Advice With No Commission

I am not paid by any brand and earn nothing on what you buy, so the recommendation is genuinely about you.

Reason 06

One Building, One Team

Alterations, collection pieces, hair and makeup all sit under the same roof, so a plan does not fall apart in the handover.

Honest Trade Offs

When A Styling Session Is The Wrong Spend

It is not right for everyone, and it is not painless. Here is exactly what it costs you.

It Can Be Uncomfortable

Going through a whole wardrobe means facing money spent on things that never worked, and sometimes clothes tied to a version of yourself that has changed.

How I Handle ItWe work at your pace, nothing leaves without your say so, and anything you are unsure about goes in a hold box rather than a bag.

It Takes A Real Block Of Time

Two to three hours with everything out of the wardrobe. It cannot be done in twenty minutes and it cannot be done well while distracted.

How I Handle ItSessions are booked as a single uninterrupted block, and the ninety minute event session exists for when that is all you can give.

It Is A Cost On Top Of Clothes

You are paying for time and judgement, and that is money not spent on garments. For a small or new wardrobe it may not be the right first spend.

How I Handle ItIf your wardrobe is genuinely too small to edit, I will say so on the brief call and suggest waiting rather than booking you in.

Results Depend On Honesty

If you tell me you dress formally for work when you actually do not, we will build a wardrobe for a life you are not living.

How I Handle ItThe occasion map is built from your real calendar rather than from a description, which makes the gap much harder to hide.

Some Pieces Cannot Be Saved

Fabric wears out, and some garments were badly made from the start. No alteration rescues a jacket with no seam allowance left in it.

How I Handle ItI check the seam allowance before adding anything to the alter list, so you are never quoted for work that cannot succeed.

It Is Not A Personality Test

If you are hoping to be told your season, your type or your archetype, that is not what happens here and you may find the session unromantic.

How I Handle ItI say this plainly on the brief call, so nobody books expecting one thing and receives another.

Side By Side

Bespoke Styling Versus Personal Shopping

They are often sold as the same thing. They are not, and the difference is who pays the person advising you.

Before You Arrive

How To Prepare For Your Session

Thirty minutes of preparation roughly doubles what we get through in the session itself.

One thing to think about beforehand. Which three outfits do you wear most, and what do those three have in common. That answer usually shapes the whole session.
  • Do the laundry first. Anything in the wash on the day is invisible to both of us, and it is usually the pieces you wear most.
  • Bring every pair of shoes. Outfits fail at the feet more than anywhere else, and hem length depends entirely on heel height.
  • Have your calendar open. The occasion map is built from your real next three months, not from a general description of your life.
  • Do not tidy or pre edit. The pieces you would hide are often the most useful thing in the room for working out what has gone wrong.
  • Wear something easy to change in and out of. You will try on a lot in a short time and complicated fastenings waste the session.
  • Bring the underwear you wear most. A fit assessment made over the wrong foundation is not a fit assessment.
  • Have a clear surface and a full length mirror. For home sessions these two things make the difference between a good session and a cramped one.

Who It Suits

Who Books A Styling Session

The most common reasons people sit down with me, in roughly the order they come up.

Case 01

A Full Wardrobe And Nothing To Wear

The single most common brief. The clothes are usually fine. The combinations, the proportions and the gaps are the problem.

Case 02

A New Job Or A Changed Dress Code

A move into or out of a formal environment leaves most of a wardrobe stranded. The map changes before the clothes do.

Case 03

A Change In Size Or Shape

After pregnancy, a health change or simply time. Far more of the old wardrobe survives than people expect, once it is altered properly.

Case 04

One Significant Event

A wedding, a milestone birthday, a work occasion. One date, one look, and no time to get it wrong twice.

Case 05

Spending Too Much On The Wrong Things

Buying constantly and wearing little. The gap list exists specifically to end this pattern.

Case 06

Preparing For A Commission

Working out what to commission and what to leave alone, before spending on tailoring or a collection piece.

Common Questions

Bespoke Styling Questions And Answers

Will You Make Me Throw Everything Away

No. Nothing leaves without your agreement, and anything you are unsure about goes into a hold box rather than a release bag. Most sessions save more pieces than they release, because alteration brings a lot of things back.

Do I Have To Buy Anything

Not at all. I am not paid by any brand and I earn nothing on what you buy. Plenty of sessions end with an empty gap list, and that is a good result rather than a failed one.

Can The Session Happen At My Home

Yes, for the Wardrobe Edit and Seasonal Refresh within the local area, and travel is included in the session fee. You will need a clear surface and a full length mirror. Event styling is usually easier in the studio where the rail is.

Which Session Should I Book

Book the fifteen minute brief call and I will tell you. If you have one date to solve, it is event styling. If the whole wardrobe has stopped working, it is the Wardrobe Edit. If your life has changed shape, it is the Seasonal Refresh.

What Sizes And Shapes Do You Work With

All of them. Proportion is the thing I work with, and proportion has nothing to do with size. The method is identical whether you are a US 0 or a US 24.

Do You Style Men As Well

Yes. The sessions are the same, and the tailoring side of the studio works on menswear too. Suiting, shirting and outerwear are frequently what gets edited.

How Much Should I Budget For Alterations Afterward

It varies with what survives the sort, but most alteration lists come to a fraction of what replacing the same pieces would cost. Each item on your list is quoted individually before any work starts.

Can You Style Me For A Wedding

Yes, as a guest, as the bride, or for a wedding party. For bridal we plan the garment, the fitting schedule and the salon appointments as one timeline rather than three separate bookings.

Is There Anything You Will Not Do

I will not tell you that something works when it does not, and I will not build a wardrobe for a life you are not actually living. If a session is not the right spend for you, I will say so on the brief call instead of booking you in.

How Far Ahead Should I Book

Two to three weeks for a standard session. For a specific event, book at least six weeks ahead so there is room for any alteration work the look turns out to need.
